Are you interested in joining a dynamic team of GIS professionals to help improve the use and efficiency of geospatial data and technologies in Chesterfield County? If so, the Chesterfield County Planning department has an exciting opportunity for you.

Chesterfield County, a fast-growing community located 20 minutes south of Richmond, VA, is seeking to add a highly motivated and curiosity-driven Senior GIS Analyst to the Geospatial Services team within the department.

This position will participate in several facets of geospatial data analysis, collection, and maintenance. Ideal candidates will be able to manage new and existing GIS projects, learn standard procedures around editing and maintaining core GIS layers, practice effective cartography for print and web applications, display strong analytical skills, and be able to communicate with the public, county staff and officials, and external stakeholders.

Examples of work:
 • Review site plans, development plans, surveys, permits, and other land development documents for spatial accuracy and digitization requirements.
 • Develop and input address assignment plans, using proposed road names and county standards, with the ability to communicate this essential information to stakeholders.
 • Perform edits on a wide range of GIS layers, including addressing, streets and routing, parcels (using ESRI’s Parcel Fabric), environmental features, easements, parks and recreation assets, building footprints, and impervious surfaces.
 • Develop, test, deploy, and use mobile and web applications built with ESRI products including Survey123, Survey123 Connect, Field Maps, Field Maps Designer, and Web App Builder in both ArcGIS Online and internal GIS portals.
 • Train and assist other individuals practicing GIS within the county.
 • Provide timely and effective customer service to internal and external customers.
 • Attend and participate in team and department meetings, training sessions, and professional development conferences.
 Preferred experience:
 • Experience maintaining county land records using ESRI’s Parcel Fabric
 • Experience editing GIS features within or outside of ArcGIS Workflow
 • Experience designing and deploying web maps and applications using ESRI’s Experience Builder and Instant Apps systems through ArcGIS Online or Portal
 • Knowledge of Parks and Recreation asset management

This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in geography, cartography, planning, engineering or a related field; three years of increasingly responsible experience in the use and operation of geographical information systems; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.

Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
