What You’ll Do

 

  • Develop, maintain, manage, and analyze GIS databases, layers, and spatial datasets for planning, engineering, environmental, infrastructure, and public-sector projects
  • Perform advanced spatial analysis to support land use planning, growth policy, zoning, transportation planning, infrastructure planning, asset management, environmental review, and public decision-making
  • Prepare maps, figures, exhibits, dashboards, web maps, story maps, and graphics for reports, plans, grant applications, presentations, public meetings, and client deliverables
  • Support planning projects through parcel analysis, demographic analysis, suitability analysis, service area analysis, land use mapping, infrastructure mapping, and other geospatial planning applications
  • Develop and maintain GIS workflows, templates, data standards, quality control procedures, and best practices to improve consistency and efficiency across projects
  • Support ArcGIS Online, web mapping applications, mobile data collection applications, dashboards, and data-sharing platforms
  • Assist with field data collection workflows, GPS data integration, mobile mapping, and quality assurance/quality control of field-collected data
  • Perform data conversion, georeferencing, coordinate system management, spatial joins, database updates, metadata development, and data validation
  • Coordinate with planners, engineers, surveyors, scientists, project managers, clients, and agencies regarding GIS needs, deliverables, schedules, and data requests
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, training, and support to GIS staff and project teams
  • May supervise, mentor, assign work to, review work of, and support professional development of GIS staff
  • Assist project managers with GIS task scoping, level-of-effort estimates, schedules, budgets, and quality control for GIS-related project work
  • Review GIS deliverables for accuracy, completeness, cartographic quality, consistency with project requirements, and compliance with applicable standards
  • Support integration of GIS data with planning documents, engineering design workflows, asset management systems, public engagement tools, and other project platforms
  • Communicate technical GIS concepts clearly to non-technical audiences, including clients, elected officials, agency staff, stakeholders, and the public
  • Stay current with GIS technology, AEC industry practices, geospatial tools, data sources, and emerging methods applicable to planning and infrastructure projects
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

     

    What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or related field required
  • Minimum of 15+ years of progressively responsible GIS-related experience required
  • Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Planning, Geospatial Science, or related field preferred
  • GIS Professional (GISP) certification preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience may be considered where appropriate
