The Senior Geospatial Business Analyst is a key member of the Conservation & Geospatial Systems team in TNC’s Information Technology (IT) department. The Senior Geospatial Business Analyst reports to the Associate Director of Business Analysis and works closely with other functions in Conservation & Geospatial Systems to serve TNC’s global community of scientists, conservationists, and GIS analysts and managers.

This role is at the center of conservation, geospatial data, and technology at TNC. The Senior Geospatial Business Analyst contributes to the development and delivery of globally accessible, scalable, and modern geospatial technologies by gathering, synthesizing, and communicating the needs of TNC conservation, science, and geospatial practitioners to the Conservation & Geospatial Systems team. The Senior Geospatial Business Analyst develops and oversees intake processes and leads change management and user adoption of new and upgraded data and technology solutions.

The Senior Geospatial Business Analyst collaborates across IT teams to identify and clarify roles and responsibilities for the maintenance and support of geospatial applications to ensure that they remain performant and secure and meet the evolving needs of the geospatial and conservation science community.

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Serve as a primary IT liaison for TNC’s geospatial and conservation science communities and the core technologies owned and maintained by the Conservation & Geospatial Systems team.
  • Understand the strategies, objectives, and goals of TNC’s geospatial and conservation science communities at large and individual business units. 
  • Gather, synthesize, and communicate business and technical requirements for geospatial technologies and web applications.
  • Collaborate with the Conservation & Geospatial Systems team on the development of spatial data management and web-based GIS strategies.
  • Manage and prioritize the roadmap of changes and enhancements to core and supporting geospatial technologies.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to plan and execute technology modernization and stability projects.
  • Manage the intake process for web GIS applications and participate in the development and distribution of web GIS guidelines and the assessment of web GIS requests.
  • Lead change management and user adoption of new and upgraded data and technology solutions and support the design and delivery of geospatial technology training.
  • Collaborate across IT teams to ensure that roles and responsibilities are identified and clarified for the maintenance and enhancement of enterprise geospatial platforms and applications.
  • Analyze and track key business capabilities enabled by geospatial technology solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in geospatial science or technology or related field and/or the combined equivalent of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of experience with geographic information system (GIS) software, spatial data management, and web mapping technologies.
  • Five or more years of experience collecting, analyzing, and communicating business and technical requirements and modeling business processes.
  • Understanding of how scientists, conservationists, and GIS analysts and managers utilize geospatial data and GIS, earth observation/remote sensing, and machine learning technologies to achieve their goals.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and project management skills and a proven track record of autonomous leadership.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with the suite of Esri products (e.g., ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise).
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms and cloud computing tools (e.g., Amazon Web Services).
  • Experience with earth observation/remote sensing software and tools (e.g., Google Earth Engine).
  • Familiarity with online mapping (e.g., Esri Javasript, Mapbox, Google Maps API), open source GIS (e.g., QGIS), and spatial data management technologies (e.g.,
  • Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgresSQL/PostGIS).
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Smartsheet, Miro).
  • Experience with change management, user adoption, and technology training design and delivery.
  • Experience working for a global, decentralized nonprofit organization.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.

SALARY INFORMATION
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $91,800 - 137,800 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
