Position Purpose:
Perform duties to electronically design, edit and maintain electrical systems consisting of drawings, maps and associated data. Perform GPS correction and field verification of BEMC facilities as needed.
Essential Functions:
Use GIS to create new and revise existing system maps and drawings.
- Prepare maps/drawings involving underground or overhead line layouts to required specifications.
- Create diagrams and drawings of metering points, switches, structure designs, etc.
- Verify and reconcile maps and drawings to field data.
- Update system maps as changes and revisions are made.
- Create map themes to reflect other utilities such as sewer, water, gas, etc.
- Provide system trace reports in support of planned outages, switching procedures, load balancing, phase changes, and other operations as needed.
- Maintain electronic copies of notarized ROW agreements within the GIS.
Assimilate and enter supporting data into the GIS or other databases related to maintaining current system maps and system facilities model.
- Prepare system maps with the proper phasing, consumer count, switch numbering, sectionalizing, regulators, substations, fusing, etc.
- Interpret staking sheets and plots when updating system key maps, detail maps, and circuit diagrams and verify accuracy of field data based on valid electrical connectivity practices.
- Maintain files of plots and drawings.
- Maintain GIS data integrity for assimilation into supported programs and systems (CADOPSABB, NISC, Indigo, Field Pro, Catalyst and other systems as needed)
- Assimilate results of switching procedures, load balancing, phase changes, etc. into the GIS to accurately model system conditions in the field.
- Coordinate the collection of field data by Engineering/Operations to fill in data gaps for GIS
Monitor service orders on the NISCGIS work queue.
- Coordinate and review designs with appropriate departments to ensure that designs are compatible with the Cooperative's system of operations, meeting all safety and reliability standards.
- Advise the staking department as to the best practices for electrical network staking design.
Provide technical assistance to various Cooperative departments on matters relating to GIS projects as needed.
- Assist in the preparation or extraction of data and graphics to assist other departments.
- Provide user specific training for various GIS programs, both existing and in the future.
- Troubleshoot Work OrderService Order problems as they relate to workflow when identified (internally or externally)
Perform GPS correction and field verification of BEMC facilities as needed.
- Use GPS equipment to collect positional accuracy of BEMC facilities as needed
- Perform verification of overhead-underground equipment and line feeds as able without coming into physical contact with BEMC facilities.
Other Duties:
- Detect faulty operations or materials and report all unusual conditions to supervisor.
- Follow safety procedures and keep the work area clean and orderly.
- Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.
- Use radio equipment for communications in the correct manner according to regulations.
- Be available to respond to emergency calls.
- Know and comply with traffic laws and regulations.
