A technical position responsible for assisting in the ongoing maintenance of the City’s GIS databases, GIS applications on the City’s GIS page, map creation, technical support, and customer service. The position provides technical support for the City.

- Provide Customer Service to internal users City wide regarding GIS support. Reviews the requests and provides relevant support and resources.
- Responsible for management of the City’s GIS Databases. This includes, but is not limited to, data creation, maintenance, modifications, and other workflows relating to database management to ensure accuracy of the databases.
- Data entry abilities on various types of data. This includes but is not limited to vector and raster data.
- Provide technical support to GIS applications, City users, and team members. This includes basic trouble shooting steps.
- Utilizing tools outside of GIS applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Provide technical support in creating maps related to the City’s current available data or creating maps based on provided data from end-users. This also involves creating other GIS products such as, but not limited to, map books and charts.
- Provide insight and collaboration on updating technical documents for GIS functions and workflows.
- Manage changes in the ArcGIS Online environment. Items include, but are not limited to: ArcGIS StoryMaps, ArcGIS Experience Builder, and ArcGIS Survey123. This also includes working with end-users about applications and configurations needed to fit the requirements.
- Work in a team environment. This includes cultivating and participating in a respectful workplace environment.
- Follow IT workflows and principles.
- Ability to keep track of work and projects through IT solutions provided as well as individual tracking of work items.
- Ability to operate hardware for GIS-Specific purposes: large format plotter and scanners.
- Maintains punctuality and coordination with team.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including the characteristics of spreadsheets, graphics, word processing, electronic mail communications, and scheduling.
- Ability to conduct, read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
- Ability to check systems for functionality.
- Document problems/requests and the solutions.
- Utilize critical thinking skills.
- Customer service skills.
- Conduct basic data management techniques.
- Ability to collaborate with team members.
- Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online.
- High school graduate or equivalent is required.
- Base knowledge of GIS, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online. Preferred 1 year of knowledge.
- Experience with data entry. Preferred 1 year.
- Experience with working in collaborative group settings. Preferred 1 year.
- Experience in a customer service environment.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must possess valid Florida Operator's license with an acceptable driving record.
During occasions of local emergencies this position may be required to report to perform emergency tasks, which may result in extended work hours as well as extended periods of time away from family members. The Incident Commander and the employee’s department Head will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work is generally sedentary to light and may require exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 25 pounds frequently to move objects.
Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Fingering: Dexterity, primarily with fingers, as in picking, pinching, or typing.
- Grasping: Applying pressure with the whole hand.
- Handling: Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand.
- Hearing: Ability to hear and understand at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Lifting: Ability to frequently lift and move objects.
- Mental Acuity: Ability to make rational decisions.
- Pushing/Pulling: Ability to occasionally move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Reaching: Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
- Speaking / Talking: Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and concisely through speech.
- Standing: Ability to stand for sustained periods of time.
- Stooping: Ability to bend body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
- Visual Acuity: Ability to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading, operating motor vehicles; including color, depth perception, and field vision.
- Walking: Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances and to move from one work area to another.
