GIS Technician I: $36.76 - $46.92/hourly

GIS Technician II: $40.52 - $51.73/hourly

Benefits include:

100% employee premiums paid for all health benefits.
Annual Merit Increases. Full-time employees are eligible for 5% merit increases on an annual basis until they reach the top of their pay range.

Deferred Compensation - up to $3,500 matching on 457 plans.

The GIS Technician I is the entry-level class and is flexibly staffed with the full journey-level GIS Technician II class. Typically, proficiency to move from the GIS Technician I to GIS Technician II is met within an 18- to 36-month period, depending upon an individual’s prior experience and after additional skills and abilities obtained to perform the duties of a GIS technician II are consistently and competently demonstrated.

Overview of Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

As a GIS Technician I/II, you will help maintain and enhance the district's GIS database and mapping applications. You will directly maintain both spatial and tabular data related to the water transmission and distribution system which spans roughly 700 linear miles! To do this, you'll review engineering drawings, reports, legal maps and a variety of datasets. Your attention to detail and quality control practices must be exceptional.

You will work closely with construction crews and operations staff in the office and occasionally in the field. You will need to communicate GIS and GPS concepts in clear, down-to-earth ways for users who may not be as familiar. Your customer service should be so exceptional and approachable that staff naturally feel comfortable coming to you for help. Your creativity will be needed when building effective maps, reports and solutions.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking someone who brings:

An associate degree in geography or a closely related field
A minimum of two years of GIS experience, preferable in a public utility setting
A valid Class C driver's license
Strong technical curiosity, attention to detail and a collaborative mindset
