Job Summary

Under limited supervision, this role performs advanced GIS analytics, maintains and updates County GIS data, and develops and manages GIS databases and applications. The position supports County departments and partner agencies by creating mapping products, responding to public inquiries, and providing production assistance and training on GIS tools and data viewers. Responsibilities include conducting spatial analysis to generate tabular and cartographic outputs while adhering to established quality control and assurance standards. The role also supports system functionality by performing equipment interfacing, network connections, and developing system interfaces using various software languages. Additionally, the position researches software upgrades, assists with software migration, and ensures service continuity through coordination and communication with departments.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Cartography, Geography, or related area. Two (2) or more years of related experience with ESRI software (ArcGIS 10.x, 11.x, or 12.x and extensions) and different GIS vector and raster data formats. Additional years of formal education in GIS may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required work experience. Cartography skills required; examples of work preferred. Must successfully pass a Cartography skills assessment prior to employment. A valid Driver’s License and minimum automobile insurance as required by law.
