GIS Supervisor

Job Summary:
Oversees the Designing, coding, and maintenance of in-house Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software for custom applications and augmentations to existing Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) software by the GIS team.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

  • Works with management teams within ITG and outside stakeholders to ensure ongoing GIS work aligns with strategic goals.
  • Supervises the staff by defining and establishing schedules, setting priorities, providing support/direction and dealing with administrative issues as needed.
  • Reviews and recommends improvements to existing architectures and security practices.
  • Coaches team members on performance, complete employee performance evaluations and recommends pay actions.
  • Trains staff on operational procedures and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:

  • Thorough working knowledge of programming languages, database management systems, development platforms, and systems integration, as well as general knowledge of GIS systems, spatial data and development platforms.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the organization's methodologies and tools.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the organization's policies and procedures.

Skill:

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills

  • Ability to coach and develop employees, including continuous improvement practices and principles

Selective Preference(s):
Bachelor's degree plus 3 or more years of experience in related discipline (or equivalent experience) preferred.
