Summary of Work
We are seeking a candidate with a passion for construction and engineering, who enjoys working outdoors and has a strong understanding of technology to fill our role as a GIS Specialist.

As our new team member, you will be responsible for recording and managing assets while creating and updating GIS maps. You will also provide preliminary and construction surveying, construction inspection, and materials testing for all types of highway construction projects. You'll get to work with cutting-edge equipment like Robotic Total Station GPS, drones, and use computer aided drafting software such as Microstation to measure and calculate quantities and create reports and plan sheets for use on construction projects. You'll also get to perform tests on road and bridge building materials for all types of projects to ensure that they meet NDDOT specifications.

But that's not all! You'll have the opportunity to record and maintain the roadside assets through the use of GIS software. You will manage the following programs within the district: culvert inspection, drone pilot, stockpile measurements, striping plan design, overhead clearances and more.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for a GIS Specialist, you must have at least four years of work experience related to the duties listed.  College-level coursework and/or degree in an engineering or related field reflecting the required abilities for this position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis. Materials testing is preferred.

You will need to be able to carry several items with a total weight of 50 pounds and have a valid North Dakota Class D driver’s license in order to travel to project locations.
