SpecPro is seeking a motivated and qualified professional to support operations at Fort Irwin as a GIS Specialist. This position plays a critical role in supporting environmental and biological management through the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies, spatial analysis, and geospatial data management. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop mapping products, analyze biological data, and support ecological planning and conservation initiatives for the Mojave Desert Tortoise. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties/Responsibilities: Develop, maintain, and manage geospatial databases and GIS datasets. Perform spatial analyses related to biological resources, habitat assessments, environmental planning, and land management. Produce professional-quality maps, figures, and graphics for reports, presentations, and project deliverables. Integrate field-collected biological and environmental data into GIS platforms. Support environmental compliance and conservation planning. Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of spatial data and mapping products. Coordinate with biologists, environmental scientists, planners, and project managers to support project objectives. Assist with field data collection using GPS equipment and mobile GIS applications. Prepare technical documentation and contribute to reports and project deliverables. Support GIS data requests and provide technical expertise to project team and clients. Maintain accurate field notes, maps, and project documentation. Manage your workload and coordinate schedules with project managers. Deliver high-quality Final Reports on time Required Skills/Abilities: Minimum of three (3) years of professional GIS experience supporting environmental, biological, natural resource, engineering, or government programs. Experience working with Department of Defense (DoD) geospatial data standards, including Army SDSFIE 4.0. Familiarity with geospatial data governance, quality assurance, and enterprise GIS environments. Strong understanding of GIS principles, cartography, and spatial analysis. Knowledge of biological and ecological data collection and interpretation. Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to analyze complex datasets and communicate findings effectively. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record. Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Geographic Information Science, Biology, environmental science, or related field Experience with Mojave Desert Tortoise Experience preparing biologically based GIS monitoring reports Experience conducting surveys and monitoring wildlife species in Southern California Physical Requirements: Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections. Ability to hike long distances over varied terrain and weather conditions Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to operate a company truck while onsite. The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
