This position will handle the administration, coordination, collection and dissemination of geographic information for Public Safety Departments within the City of Irving, including Police, Fire, and Emergency Management. Duties include creating and maintaining GIS datasets; importing and exporting GIS datasets in multiple formats; researching GIS source data using relational databases, imaging systems and plan sets; performing data analysis; creating ArcGIS map services and custom web mapping applications to produce maps, presentations, reports and spreadsheets for planning and situational awareness; performing survey work in the field such as, as-built location or verification of utilities, structures, and features using GPS survey equipment and software to collect and download digital data; training and supporting City employees in GIS usage; updating public safety mapping systems for use with computer aided dispatch systems and mobile vehicles to aid in response and acquisition of data in the field; providing data and assistance with common operational picture mapping applications; and testing, evaluating and maintaining new software and equipment. Duties will require the ability to adhere to strict deadlines working in a fast-paced, multi-task environment. This grant-funded position is expected to continue for up to one year or longer. A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Geospatial Information Sciences or a closely related field and one year of related GIS experience required. Experience in ESRI ArcGIS Server, ESRI ArcGIS Online/Portal, ESRI ArcGIS Desktop, and ESRI ArcGIS Pro preferred. Experience with Tritech, Tiburon, CentralSquare, Enroute, and MS Transact-SQL beneficial. Duties involve access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), which requires that a thorough background check be conducted. Candidates will be subject to a criminal history check. Must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered. PAY GRADE IT19 / FULL PAY RANGE $30.87 - $43.50 PER HOUR
