Description

Under general supervision, implementation of applications, maintenance, and daily operation and use of the Bartlesville GIS system and databases.

Examples of Duties

Gather, manage, and organize geospatial data from various sources.   Design and produce maps and visualizations to represent spatial data; Analyze spatial data to identify patterns, trends, and relationships; Utilize GIS software (like ArcPRO) and other tools for data processing and analysis; Assist with GIS-related projects in various fields, such as emergency services, planning, storm water, water, wastewater and associated urban applications;  Verifies the accuracy of mapping data by going out into the field to take physical measurements or readings using GPS equipment and other survey field equipment; Researches data, mapping and/or construction plans. Performs CAD revisions and/or drafting for project construction; Researches drawing location maps and types documents for easements, deeds, appraisals, and agreement or letters of record; Provides mapping and easement clarification for public; Performs other related duties as required or assigned, particularly as it relates to the maintenance and update of the geographic information system and engineering department needs.

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s  or Associate’s degree in geography, cartography, engineering, computer science or a related field with course work in computer mapping or database design or, any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job; Two (2) years of work experience related to the use of computers in geographic information systems, relational database design, computer information systems, and/or computer-aided drafting. 
Licenses and Certifications:  Valid Oklahoma Drivers License

Supplemental Information

Knowledge of:  GIS or computer-aided drafting and design procedures, hardware devices, software, and operating system of GIS, ESRI’s products preferred, or CAD systems.  Mathematical practices and procedures as applied to drafting/design computations; Principles and practices of drafting; Civil, Engineering and trade drafting; Legal terminology;
All computer applications and hardware related to performance of the essential functions of the job; Recordkeeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques; Standard business arithmetic, including percentages and decimals; Trigonometry. 
Skill in:  Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines;
Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with a minimum of direction;
Using a computer terminal to accurately and rapidly enter and retrieve data and information.  Communicating clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
