Join Our Team as our summer GIS Intern!
 
The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Intern to support the GIS Division during the summer months. This position offers hands-on experience working with GIS data, mapping applications, and spatial analysis to support various municipal projects. 
 
What you will do
  • Assist in collecting, updating and maintaining GIS data related to infrastructure, and environmental resources
  • Create and edit maps various internal departments
  • Conduct spatial analysis to support decision-making processes
  • Perform field data collection using GPS and mobile GIS applications
  • Assist with quality control and documentation of GIS datasets
  • Support the development of interactive web maps and dashboards using ArcGIS Online
  • Research and integrate external datasets into the Town's GIS system
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing GIS 
 
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Computer Science or related field
  • Experience using ArcGIS Online, and GIS-related software
  • Familiarity with data management, spatial analysis and cartographic principals
  • Experience with GPS data collection and mobile GIS application is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
 
Competitive hourly pay starting at $18-$20/hour

Internship expected to last May - August
