Cultural Resource Analysts

Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. (CRA) is seeking qualified candidates for a GIS Developer/Specialist  who has experience with both an open-source toolkit and the ESRI environment. We are looking for a dedicated professional seeking a permanent, full-time position. Salary starts at $55,000, but may be higher commensurate with qualifications and experience. Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and computer programing is a requirement for this position.

Compensation: beginning at $55,000; based on experience

Experience: Master’s in a related field (Anthropology, Computer Science, Geography, Geology, or similar); geographic information systems and computer programming experience required.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

  • Use QGIS and/or ArcGIS forms and Mergin Maps and/or QField, Field Maps to develop a field data collection platform, estimated 1 year of development time.
  • Interact with archaeological Principal Investigators, Project Managers, Lab Managers, and Field Technicians to optimize and continuously improve the field data collection platform.
  • Manage field data collection platform after development completion.
  • Manage and develop internal database.
  • After the development phase is completed, additional responsibilities will be dependent on the applicant’s skill set, but may include assisting with traditional GIS mapping, assisting IT department, and developing small programs or applets to streamline other company workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s in a related field (Anthropology, Computer Science, Geography, Geology, or similar);
  • Background in GIS, experience with an open-source toolkit including QGIS is required, experience with Mergin Maps, QField, Geoserver, or additional open source tools is preferred, additional experience with the ESRI environment is preferred;
  • Programming skills including Python and SQL required, additional languages preferred;
  • Relational database experience required, preferred DBMS include MS Access and/or PostgreSQL;
