Summary Join an impactful mission supporting wildland fire data sharing across federal agencies. As an API Developer, you will enhance and maintain IRWIN's API services to ensure secure, accurate, and geospatially-enabled data exchange between integrated systems. Work remotely with leading-edge AWS and Esri technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs within AWS-hosted environments
• Implement authoritative data validation and geospatial schema standards
• Support integration with Esri ArcGIS systems and client-side GIS tools
• Collaborate with core and extended teams to enhance data flow efficiency
• Apply data validation, security, and schema enforcement in all API updates
• Build automated test coverage and maintain code quality standards
• Support documentation and release planning for API features and changes
• Troubleshoot data anomalies and integration issues with partner systems

Qualifications - Required

• 5+ years of experience in RESTful API development, ideally w/in GIS development projects
• Strong background in geospatial programming and Esri ArcGIS tools
• Experience with JSON, XML, spatial SQL, and geospatial schema enforcement
• Proficiency with automated testing and code validation tools
• Familiarity with cloud-based development (preferably AWS)
• Excellent debugging, documentation, and communication skills

Qualifications – Highly Desired

• Experience integrating APIs with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Pro
• Knowledge of wildland fire systems or federal spatial data platforms
• Understanding of NWCG geospatial data standards
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD in cloud environments
• Esri and AWS certification(s)

Compensation $117,000 – $139,000/yr, based on capability and experience
