As a turnkey telecommunications contractor, VTC provides field surveying, design & engineering, construction and maintenance services. We are an approved vendor for many of the major industry providers of CATV, ODAS/Small Cell and IDAS/Venue. VTC Design Group’s primary objectives are to successfully research, bid, engineer, and permit fiber optic cable placement projects throughout the US. Our fundamental tools are AutoCAD, GoogleEarth Pro, Adobe Professional, ArcGIS, Bentley Map and Microsoft Suite. Our Design Technicians use the latest versions of these and other resources to initiate jurisdictional discovery, render field notes into CAD format, engineer the proposed fiber optic path and/or antenna equipment sites and permit the appropriate jurisdiction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain GIS solutions to capture design data (cable routes, splice points, pole assets)
- Implement mobile/online data-collection tools (Survey123, Collector) and ingest field edits into AGOL
- Assist with construction-progress tracking—integrating as-built updates, inspection status, and work-order data into GIS (vs. owning PM)
- Develop and maintain ArcGIS Online Notebooks for automation, data analysis, and reporting
- Develop Python scripts (ArcGIS API for Python & ArcPy) to push/pull GIS layers into platforms like Site Tracker and Smartsheet via their REST APIs
- Design resilient data pipelines: batch sync nightly updates and webhooks for near-real-time changes
- Automate status dashboards showing “planned vs. completed” network segments and generate on-demand maps/reports
- Leverage ArcGIS Utility Network capabilities—build/maintain network topologies, relationship tables, and domain networks
- Ensure hosted feature layers reflect the latest field inputs, with automated geometry and attribute checks
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- ArcGIS Online: Configuring and publishing hosted feature layers
- Python Scripting: Proficiency with ArcGIS API for Python & ArcPy
- API Integration: REST API integration (OAuth5, tokens) with platforms like Site Tracker and Smartsheet
- ArcGIS Online Notebooks: Automating workflows, batch processing, and custom analyses
- Utility Network & Topologies: Modeling and managing network topologies and relationship tables
- Git & Collaboration: Git workflows, pull requests, code reviews, and branching strategies
- IDE Proficiency: Familiarity with PyCharm or Visual Studio Code
- Database Management: Experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS or SQL Server Spatial
- Telecom Domain Knowledge: Understanding of fiber, splice, pole, and cabinet assets
- Web Development: Experience with ArcGIS JS API or Experience Builder
- DevOps: CI/CD pipelines for scripts and services
- Cloud & Security: Familiarity with AGOL roles, service principals, and cloud-hosted GIS
