General Summary
The purpose of this classification is to support the development, maintenance, and monitoring SCAG Enterprise Geodatabase and support enterprise systems.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The GIS Database Administrator job is the full performance level within the career family. Individuals in this classification possess comprehensive skills and perform assignments of moderate complexity using defined guidelines and policies. This may be demonstrated by supporting data automation and maintenance efforts of SCAG’s Enterprise Geodatabase to ensure effective operations and service delivery.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Supports the design and development of Geo Datasets
- Creates and maintains enterprise databases and system documentation
- Administers database, including backup, recovery, monitoring, optimization, installation, configuration, and upgrading
- Performs software upgrade, installation, and configuration
- Creates geodatabase reports
- Reviews processes, identify areas of improvement, and resolves issues in the system
- Performs reasonably related duties within the scope of the classification as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required skills, knowledge, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be with 3 years' experience in geodatabase administration and a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

- ArcGIS Enterprise
- Software maintenance and development life cycles
- Various programming languages
- Data design
- Project management principles

- Providing user support and troubleshooting
- Written and oral communications
- Attention to detail
- Organization and time management
ABILITY TO:
- Provide GIS analysis
- Configure related software applications
- Develop and/or review clear, concise communications and reports
- Use basic to intermediate features of Microsoft Office Suite
- Contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
