We are currently seeking:
A GIS coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will assist the GIS division to help coordinate the development of the City Geographic Information System (GIS) and databases; promote the GIS program, identify priorities, coordinate development activities with other agencies and City departments, and assure the program achieves strategic goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the GIS manager in the exercise of his/her responsibilities.
- Assisting in the design, development (implementation), operation, and maintenance of the organization's geographic information system, web servers, application servers, relational database servers, file server, license management, and City business systems.
- Assisting in the City's geographic information system server administration, including coordination, design, installs, configuration, security, and troubleshooting.
- Assisting in City's geographic information system database administration, including coordination, interoperability, design, security, backups and linkages to other City business process databases.
- Coordinating the development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS technical standards, system server design, and database development activities with the requirements of the City's IT department.
- Coordinating and consulting with users, departments, management, vendors, and other GIS staff to determine needs, understand business processes, develop project objectives, and ensure that it meet system requirements; Coordinates GIS activities with the other facets of the organization's work and recommend corrective actions if necessary.
- Coordinating workflows with other departments to exchange, share and integrate digital data.
- Developing organizational GIS applications to assist product end users with the decision-making process, satisfy specific user needs in the organization, and support City goals; Coordinate, design, install, test, and develop SOP's for organizational applications.
- Coordinating data management, including input, collection, prioritizing, data structure, coordination, and updates of organizational spatial databases into City's geographic information system.
- Developing and managing organizational quality control procedures for data implemented into City's GIS from various sources.
- Assisting in guiding policy making and reviewing GIS plans regarding organizational GIS matters.
- Assisting in preparing, monitoring, adjusting and approving GIS division budgets.
- RFP and contract development, and hardware and software acquisition.
- Serving as subject matter expert on the GIS program; providing leadership in the deployment of GIS technology; identifying and researching technical issues and recommends solutions.
- Providing support for GIS data conversion, systems integration, system's and application's development, and implementation.
- Providing organizational technical support and training for users of GIS products.

Requirements and Skills:
- Analyzing technical issues and implementing solutions to technical problems.
- Using GIS - ESRI software suite programs, procedures, and application programming languages.
- Utilizing computer technology to plan, organize and conduct research studies.
- Reading, understanding, developing, manipulating, and analyzing geographic information in a variety of data formats and projections.
- Understanding and working with data from multiple public and private sources;
- Compilation, analysis, and presentation of technical and statistical information in reports and maps.
- Performing accurate data entry and mathematical calculations.
- Maintaining complex technical records and files.
- Operating a personal computer utilizing specialized GIS software and file management procedures.
- Following verbal and written instructions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field; AND four year's experience developing a GIS program, information systems or technical experience in computers; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
