Seattle City Light is hiring an Electrical Engineering Specialist, Associate for its Distribution Mapping team. In this position, you will work on electrical equipment mapping updates. Electrical equipment mapping drawings are used by crews and engineering to safely operate and maintain electrical equipment and cabling, plus the associated civil infrastructure (facilities and duct banks). This position will report to the Electrical Engineering Specialist, Supervisor for Distribution Mapping.
Job Responsibilities

Create and update underground drawings for use by SOC, operations and engineering;

Perform research on underground drawing requests;

Field check equipment locations;
- Update GIS database as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires two years electrical engineering experience, and an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or two years of college level instruction in electrical engineering (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment.
- Field assignments may entail exposure to all types of weather, traffic, hazardous/toxic substances, high voltage energized equipment and work in or near construction sites.
- May be required to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods of time.
- May be required to lift over 50 pounds.
- Overnight travel may be required.
License, Certification and Other Requirements
Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.
Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
- Working knowledge or familiarity with GIS software applications, specifically Arc Pro;
- GIS experience at a public utility preferred;
- Demonstrated experience fulfilling simple map and data requests;
- Two years Electrical distribution and GIS experience;
- Enjoys working in a team atmosphere with the ability to focus on tasks.

Additional InformationThe full salary range for this position is $51.74 to $60.23 per hour.
