Under general supervision, this position will be primarily responsible for the technical design, management, and implementation of assigned GIS projects, daily operation and administration of the GIS, and assist with the compilation, manipulation, and analysis of spatial and tabular data.

Prepares GIS layers, applications and datasets for various departments. Creates, edits, and maintains spatial datasets using ESRI and ArcGIS products. Produces database schemas, macros and tables and develops documentation.

Performs complex analyses using the GIS to answer questions and solve problems. Uses GPS to map infrastructure and add information to GIS. Evaluates data to ensure the data quality Establishes and maintains data directory, perform back-ups. Provides technical support and training for GIS software and related hardware for GIS users. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential function of this position, as is the ability to create and maintain professional, harmonious working relationships with others.

Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Knowledge of ESRI products and tools and GIS, ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Google (Maps, Google Earth), and GPS technology preferred.

Experience with spatial analysis, network analysis, data management and other GIS-related fields.

Skill in using Python to automate GIS tasks preferred.

Valid driver's license required. Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards as established by the City of Rowlett. Must report all traffic citations to his/her departmental Director or his/her designee within two working days of receipt.
