Position Summary
This GIS Analyst position supports the planning, implementing, and upgrading of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping applications, geospatial data, and cartographic needs of the Division of Fish Wildlife and Parks’ (FWP) Parks & Recreation Management (PR) and Wildlife Management (WM) Programs. The primary responsibilities of this position include managing and maintaining the PR and WM Programs’ web-based mapping applications and all requisite map/feature services; performing geospatial data and database design; analyzing data requirements; performing spatial data analyses; creating maps and mapping standards for the Program; supporting program GIS users; and assisting with necessary quality assurance and quality control processes to support PR and WM Programs’ IT operations and business needs.

Salary Information
The classification of this position is IS Data Services – Senior, which is in schedule-range 07-34 with a starting salary of $66,560 - $81,120 annually, based on qualifications. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period may be required. Pay for state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:

  • Experience performing GIS data management, such as conversion and transformation, GIS data editing, quality control, metadata management, creating maps to defined specifications using Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) ArcGIS Desktop software (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro), etc.
  • Experience developing GIS products or solutions for customers using desktop GIS software or with ArcGIS Online technology, or similar.
  • Experience developing, supporting and/or customizing web-based browser/mobile mapping and/or data collection applications. 

In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:

  • Experience with database or geodatabase design, creation, and/or maintenance, such as experience creating or troubleshooting SQL views or spatial views, editing and managing large GIS datasets, etc.
  • Experience with GIS scripting and/or development of automation routines for complex geospatial data processing or mapping tasks.
  • Experience with project management or business analysis, such as interpreting, documenting and communicating project business needs; tracking tasks, budget, and quality control of your own work and/or the work of others; etc.
