GIS Analyst IV
About the Role
- Manage GIS assets within the ATOM system, including dashboard development, process innovation, and database administration (ArcGIS Online/Enterprise).
- Collaborate with field crews to optimize applications based on operational feedback.
- Support the Storm Water Program by mapping culvert outfalls, conveyance structures, and receiving waters to meet MS4 requirements.
- Develop GIS-based tools for facility management, including site layouts, cost projections, and prioritization efforts.
- Create tracking solutions for Rest Areas Maintenance requests.
- Provide mapping tools to support maintenance and asset management planning.
- Coordinate with Region Maintenance Stations on budget reporting, tracking, and performance analysis, including Snow Plow performance using AVL data.
- Lead maintenance research projects and methods studies.
- Manage integrations between the Maintenance Asset Management System and GIS databases.
- Support "Keeping Utah Beautiful" initiatives and the Contractual Litter Program.
- A Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in GIS or another related field, accompanied by at least four (4) years of professional related experience. Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling at least eight (8) years.
- This position may be filled as a GIS Analyst III for those who do not have the experience/education listed above. The ideal candidate for the level III will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in GIS or another related field, accompanied by at least two (2) years of professional related experience. Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling at least six (6) years.
- At least four (4) years of GIS database management experience (Master's degree and/or PhD may be substituted for up to two years of experience)
- GIS Certification
- FME experience
- Working knowledge of Esri applications
- Analyze data to identify trends, draw logical conclusions, and make informed recommendations.
- Lead work groups, coordinate team activities, and establish strategic objectives.
- Utilize automated business software, databases, and GIS applications effectively.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Develop sustainable GIS tools, program solutions, and training materials.
- Conduct statistical analysis and report findings to stakeholders.
