Theorem Geo Associates Engineering is seeking an experienced full-time GIS Analyst that will provide support on various transmission projects to a large investor-owned utility (IOU) in either the Indianapolis/Plainfield, Indiana area or the Cincinnati, Ohio area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the position may include, but is not limited to the following processes within a GIS environment:

  • Create professional maps and figures of various transmission assets and upgrades in various disciplines including: environmental permitting, local permitting, public engagement, and siting studies.
  • Develop ArcGIS Online (AGOL) web maps for efficient field data collection and support tablet configuration.
  • Create property owner lists and parcel maps for public engagement notifications.
  • Data conversion between .dwg, .shp, and .kmz file types.
  • Download, maintain, and optimize large data libraries from a variety of online primary sources.
  • ArcGIS Online (AGOL)/Portal admin tasks, like adding users to groups, changing data ownership, etc.
  • Provide detailed analysis for estimating construction matting costs for budgeting purposes.
  • Responsive communicate, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle..

Ideal candidate would have experience and proficiency in:

  • ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), ArcGIS Collector, ArcGIS Field Maps
  • AutoCAD friendly
  • Google Earth Pro
  • MS Office Suite including Power BI Reporting
  • Basic database structure and management knowledge
  • The ability to take ownership of projects and drive them to completion
  • Public Speaking and Presentation skills
  • Research proficiency
  • Ability to adapt to new GIS software and workflows

Preferred Skills and knowledge with the following:

  • Experience in utility industry and its terminology, especially energy transmission/distribution, is a strong plus
  • GIS compatible scripting (Python, VBScript, Arcade)
  • Region specific permitting knowledge
  • Linear utility experience
  • Spatial Analysis Experience
  • Quick Capture, Survey 123
  • ArcGIS Online (AGOL)/Portal
  • ArcGIS model development for automated data clipping and analysis.
  • Technical Writing

Additional Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interface with both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify improvement opportunities and the initiative to implement change.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize multiple projects and be self-motivated.

  • Proficiency with data management, organization, a willingness to learn, and ability to ask questions to obtain desired results if unclear of the task at hand.
