Geospatial Data Analyst

Contract Request for Baron Weather

Terms:

• Now through at least December 19, 2025.
• Between 30 and 40 hours per week.
• In-person or remote, depending on circumstances.

Job Summary: The Geospatial Data Analyst will support the Weather Communication Specialist by conducting in-depth geospatial analysis and provisioning data for ArcGIS Online (AGOL). They will also assist with developing and quality control of new GIS services for customers. 

This role requires a strong background in geographic information systems (GIS) and meteorological data interpretation and a keen ability to create detailed visualizations that enhance understanding of complex weather phenomena. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Weather Communication Specialist to enable informed decision-making through precise data analysis and effective communication of results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, prepare, and deliver real-time and/or post-event analysis of extreme weather content using ArcGIS Pro and AGOL.
• Assist the Weather Communication Specialist in creating marketing and sales enablement GIS materials.
• Identify workflows that can become automated (scripted) or improved to further improve the efficiency of the GIS team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, earth science, geography, or a related field.
• Experience in ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and basic geospatial operations.
• Some knowledge and experience with Python, Arcade, and JavaScript.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in using weather analysis tools and software.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
