Taylor Engineering, Inc. seeks to hire a mid-level Geospatial Scientist/Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst to work remotely or in any of our Florida locations (Jacksonville, Tampa, or Destin).

The Geospatial Scientist/GIS Analyst will work with our Federal Programs supporting FEMA MT-2 Program - Letter of Map Revisions. This is a nation-wide project and will accomplish the mission through spatial data development and analysis, map production, watershed management programs, and quality reviews.

Requirements

A qualified candidate will possess the following.

• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geospatial Information Sciences, Geography, Geomatics or other related field
• 3-6 years of professional experience in the GIS field
• An understanding of spatial analysis, data management in a relational database, map preparation, and topographic data development
• Knowledge of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), FEMA Flood Insurance Studies, MT-2, and/or other flood study related programs and processes
• Knowledge of FEMA Guidelines and Standards for Flood Risk Analysis and Mapping
• Enthusiastic, positive “can-do” attitude
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to understand and interpret technical information and diagrams
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and multitask effectively
• Travel and field work may be required

Preferred

• Experience checking for graphical and technical accuracy of FEMA deliverables and associated reports
• Knowledge of FEMA’s MIP tracking and reporting system
• Knowledge of Environmental Regulations
• Knowledge of ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro and associated extensions including 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst
• Strong MS Excel and MS Access stills to leverage various data sources for use in GIS projects
• Strong oral, people, and written communication skills
• Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) or willing to obtain
