The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time position in the class of Geographic Information Systems Analyst I OR Geographic Information Systems Analyst II in the Innovation and Technology Services Department.
The Position
The candidate selected for this position may be hired as a Level I OR a Level II, based on experience, and at the discretion of the appointing authority.
- The Geographic Information Systems Analyst I is the entry level class in this series, $86,694.40 - $105,393.60 Annually.
- The Geographic Information Systems Analyst II is the journey level class in this series, $95,076.80 - $115,564.80 Annually.
The vacant Geographic Information Systems Analyst (GIS) I/II position will support a variety of GIS projects. Duties include creating spatial data, performing analysis, developing web applications, configuring mobile applications, and automating repetitive tasks.
The ideal candidate for this position will:
- be an experienced GIS Analyst with a positive attitude and strong teamwork skills;
- possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with management and elected officials;
- have relevant experience working in a public sector or similar environment;
- have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to interpret functional requirements into technical solutions; and
- be able to manage competing projects and adapt to changing priorities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThe minimum qualifications required for a candidate to proceed in the selection process are listed below.
Geographic Information Systems Analyst I
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in geographic information systems, cartography, computer science, geography, planning, civil engineering, or closely related field; AND
- Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience equivalent to that of a Geographic Information Systems Specialist II in Yolo County service performing GIS programming and/or database development support work in an automated mapping environment.
- Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis. One year of education consists of 30 semester units or 45 quarter units.
- License: This classification requires incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver's license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Geographic Information Systems Analyst II
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in geographic information systems, cartography, computer science, geography, planning, civil engineering, or closely related field; AND
- Experience: Two (2) years of professional level full-time experience equivalent to that of a Geographic Information Systems Analyst I in Yolo County service performing GIS systems analysis, design and maintenance, spatial database analysis and design, or applications development and programming in an automated mapping environment.
- Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis. One year of education consists of 30 semester units or 45 quarter units.
- License: This classification requires incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver's license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
