Duties and responsibilities include:
- Acquire, develop, implement, and maintain the campus’ geographic and facilities data in the GIS and other connecting databases (i.e., the University’s virtual emergency operations center application).
- Generate and update maps, spreadsheets, reports, and other visualization documents for the department and special projects.
- Perform research and analysis on a variety of data supporting operational needs and project implementation.
- Provide GPS/GIS training, as well as prepare related training and support materials.
- Develop and update documentation related to business processes and operational tasks.
- Utilize GIS tools and other technological innovations to enhance GIS applications and database structure management.
- Conduct and engage in team meetings to communicate updates, track progress, share insights, and gather feedback.
- Provide support to the Facilities Information Services Team such as project implementation and reporting.
$20.00/hour
Required Qualifications1. Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, or related field.
2. Academic and/or practical experience in the facilities field utilizing ArcGIS GIS tools including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Experience Builder, Fields Map, Geodatabases, and ArcGIS geoprocessing toolbox.
1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to communicate with individuals from various technical and educational backgrounds.
2. Ability to plan, manage, and coordinate resources for projects.
3. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, as well as ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize workload, and take initiative on projects as needed.
4. Solid understanding of the fundamentals of geospatial analysis using ArcGIS software and practical experience with ArcGIS mobile platforms such as Fields Map, Experience Builder App, Web Map App, and Dashboard.
5. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Hours to be determined upon hire - may work up to 28 hours per week.
Functional ExpectationsMust be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
2. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
3. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.

Extra Help employees may only work up to 28 hours per week for all University employment. Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits including health insurance and retirement, with Illinois State University. However, Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the University’s supplemental retirement savings plans (403b). Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment. In addition, extra help employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment.
