SUMMARY: The Building Information Modeling (BIM) & Geographic Information System (GIS) Coordinator position is responsible for management and compliance of the Company’s architectural, engineering, and construction digital deliverables and incorporating them into Digital Twin and GIS systems using related software platforms including but not limited to ESRI ArcGIS Pro and all relevant Autodesk platforms.  The BIM & GIS Coordinator will be responsible for understanding the existing campus infrastructure, facility plans, the electronic files for those plans, and the transfer of those files into the digital twin models of the built environment for all disciplines and utilizing GIS to communicate the information.  The BIM & GIS Coordinator will be responsible for editing and federating models and data within the authoring platforms and integrating with GIS and other platforms as business needs dictate.  In addition, this position will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enforcing the standards by which these transfers will occur for past and future projects. 


  • Establish, update, and maintain the departments BIM and GIS standards.
  • Consult with departments to understand their business needs, workflow, etc. and independently develop custom GIS based systems (e.g., dashboards, web apps, maps, etc.).
  • Independently evaluate and determine accuracy of legacy construction data from multiple source files (i.e., PDF’s, CAD, and Revit) and determine if suitable for incorporation onto various digital models.  Assess and present the data in a clear and concise manner, develop the required back modeling work plan (i.e., time and cost) to provide complete and accurate representations of the built environment. 
  • Based on required back modeling of various digital twins, determine and implement the most cost-effective methods for back modeling, including overseeing consultants if required.
  • Independently evaluate and determine the required field survey, utilizing GIS field collection platforms (e.g., EOS GNSS, Field Maps, etc.) and or determining when hiring consultants is required.  
  • Consult with the facilities department to support their existing CMMS platform, or other comparable systems, with digital model data and standards.
  • Lead the creation and updating of Extended Reality (XR) models of the built environment utilizing third party partners/vendors as required.
  • Lead the various departments, participate in project teams meetings, and manage outside consultants/vendors to ensure full adherence with department BIM and GIS standards. 
  • Negotiate and manage the licensing contracts and agreements (e.g., annual renewals, cost, users, etc.) with both Autodesk and ESRI for the company and external users (i.e., vendors, consultants, contractors, etc.).
  • Develop and provide relevant training for users of the digital twin models or GIS platforms, both internal and external to the company, including creating training documents, presentations, and one-on-one training.
  • Manage the migration of historical, current, and future construction project data from various sources into multiple federated models representing the company’s-built environment presented in the ESRI GIS platform. 
  • Maintain a knowledge of relevant and current state-of-the-art technology, equipment, systems and propose updates and integration as necessary.
  • Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy
  • Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.


This position has no supervisory responsibilities


  • A Bachelor of Science in architecture, engineering, or geographic information systems is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in BIM coordination and Virtual Design Construction for multi-discipline design or construction projects.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of integrated GIS/GPS principles, systems, and technologies.
  • A high level of proficiency with Autodesk BIM tools including Revit, Civil 3D, BIM Collaborate Pro, and Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Broad understanding of general computer systems including, Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • A strong background in reality capture, working with point cloud data and scanning technology.
  • A solid understanding of the commercial design process and construction management preferred.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify relationships and/or display results of analyses, using GIS based maps, graphs, or tabular data.
  • Ability to read and interpret aerial photography, imagery, and construction documents.
  • Ability to convert data collected from field operations into the GIS database.
  • Ability to support and or train others on the use of the GIS system and requirements.
  • Perform complex work under minimum supervision.
  • Strong communication skills.

  • Must be able to learn new tasks and complete tasks independently. 
  • Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow.              
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness.
