IOWN Renewable Energy, Inc. is seeking an Associate GIS to join our Development team. As the Associate, GIS, you'll play a pivotal role in preparing and managing geographic data crucial for the planning and execution of renewable energy projects. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide array of technical tasks, including spatial analysis, data conversion, and GIS project management. You'll be instrumental in maintaining GIS databases for Wind, Solar, and Storage teams, producing deliverables for planning and development reviews, and providing specialized technical support to ensure the smooth functioning of GIS processes.

The candidate will work for a rapidly growing renewable energy company headquartered in San Diego which seeks an innovative, focused, and motivated leader to start a team of professionals doing commercial modeling of projects and deal structures.

Remote candidates will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates who live in or can relocate to San Diego area, CA.

Seniority level will be based on candidate experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, geography, environmental science, or a similar technical field with demonstrated proficiency in GIS. Candidates with strong backgrounds in other fields will be considered if they possess demonstrated experience in GIS.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a full-time GIS role is preferred. Candidates with relevant experience in GIS, particularly in renewable energy or related fields, will be given consideration.
  • Interest in and/or experience with renewable energy is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Esri ArcGIS desktop and online software, including but not limited to ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal, Field Maps, Experience Builder, and similar applications and/or extensions.
  • Proficient in Esri ArcGIS desktop software, including ArcGIS Pro, and other related applications and extensions such as ArcGIS Portal.
  • Expertise in Esri ArcGIS Online, including Field Maps, Experience Builder, and similar applications, showcasing the ability to collaborate, share, and analyze geospatial data seamlessly in a web-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of coding languages (e.g., Python or R) to enhance GIS applications and workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Esri ArcGIS desktop and online software to conduct spatial analysis, mapping, and visualization tasks to support battery storage, solar, and wind project procedures.
  • Execute advanced geoprocessing functions and model building to support renewable energy projects and initiatives.
  • Produce high-quality maps and visualizations adhering to standard cartographic methods and principles.
  • Develop and maintain geodatabases and schemas, managing tabular, vector, and raster datasets efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and metadata for GIS datasets and projects, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS data into decision-making processes and project planning.
  • Provide technical support and training to team members on GIS tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Participate in fieldwork activities, including data collection, GPS surveying, and site inspections, as needed.
