The individual selected should have strong technical remote sensing and computing skills and the ability to bridge plant phenotyping, machine learning and remote sensing to study bioenergy. The candidate is expected to have a strong desire and ability for publication and funded research proposal submission. The faculty will work with Dr. Vasit Sagan and a dozen collaborators on a project funded by DoE/ARPA-e – A reference phenotyping system for energy sorghum. The appointment can be renewed for multiple years depending on funding availability.
Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Geospatial Science, or Geography, with strong computational remote sensing. The successful candidate is expected to have a record of scholarly research and publications. Documented experience in hyperspectral imaging, calibration and atmospheric correction is highly desirable. Skills in python/IDL/Matlab programming, machine learning, and plant imaging are of advantage.
