Role: State and Local Government Sales Account Manager

Role Summary:
The Account Manager will be responsible for driving business development activities for the State and Local Government Business Unit. The role is responsible for identifying and pursuing new revenue opportunities to expand the current client base throughout the U.S. In addition, the Account Manager will leverage existing clients and relationships with business partners to achieve annual sales goal. Qualified candidates will use their knowledge of leading GIS technologies to grow the business, hit revenue targets and provide clients with guidance on technology trends and solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities to expand current customer base
  • Develop and grow existing accounts
  • Set and meet sales targets
  • Define and effectively deliver the value proposition for location technologies to government clients
  • Respond to solicitations, produce proposals, and generate estimates
  • Track and report on the sales pipeline
  • Provide internal and external thought-leadership within the State and Local Government spaces
  • Establish oneself as a recognized expert in location technologies for governments through regular blogging, tweeting, and participation in related industry forums and conferences
  • Report to the Managing Partner for State and Local Government

Competencies and Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of the application of GIS technologies to local and state governments
  • Capable of presenting new technologies and ideas to decision makers
  • Consultative in nature. Possess the ability to understand and solve the client’s business problem
  • Knowledge of the sales pipeline and CRM systems
  • Ability to engage clients, track and qualify leads, and close sales
  • Exceptional customer service orientation
  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively with a wide range of people
  • Self-motivated, driven and pro-active
  • Strong team skills and the ability to work independently

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, IT/GIS, Geography or related field*
  • Experience with GIS technologies, preferably the Esri technology stack
  • Experience in business development for professional services
  • Understanding of state and local governments’ business needs

* Additional experience can be substituted for education

Experience Preferred (In addition to required experience):

  • Successful track record of meeting and/or exceeding sales quotas within an organization that sells technical services
  • Demonstrated relationships with decision makers in State and Local Government

Work Environment:

  • Healthy base salary + incentive
  • Location: Texas or California Preferred (telecommute)
  • Travel up to 35% of the time
