The Software Analyst I/II is responsible to perform a variety of professional application support, business process analysis and maintenance duties including specialties such as Software, GIS, Web and Database Support; to perform application support and maintenance, business/workflow analysis, application integration, report development, testing processes, and project management; and to maintain existing third-party applications and/or develop new service delivery programs and solutions.
The current vacancy is on the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team. Software Analysts are allocated to multiple divisions within the Information Technology Department. The list established with this recruitment will be utilized to fill the existing vacancy and any additional Software Analyst I/II vacancies that occur throughout the life of the list.
Software Analyst I - This is the entry level class in the professional Software Analyst series. Positions in this class typically have little or no directly related professional work experience. The Software Analyst I is distinguished from the II level by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the II level. Incumbents work under general supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to direction as procedures and processes of assigned areas of responsibility are learned.
Software Analyst II - This is the journey level class in the professional Software Analyst series and is distinguished from the I level by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new, unusual or unique situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.
This class is distinguished from the Senior Software Analyst in that the latter is the advanced journey level class where incumbents provide direct supervision to assigned staff and perform highly specialized and complex applications development, analysis, maintenance and administration duties.
