Maryland Environmental Service has multiple openings for GIS Specialists at the Senior through Senior Lead level (dependent on experience) within the Technical and Environmental Services Group at our Headquarters facility in Millersville, MD. These positions will manage, or assist in managing, portions of work as a member of a multidisciplinary team of environmental scientists, engineers, application developers and other GIS professionals.
The ideal candidates would have the experience utilizing ESRI ArcDesktop and ArcPro (various licensing levels such as Basic, Standard and Advanced). The ideal candidate would have experience utilizing and configuring commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions including Esri ArcGIS Suite of Products. Candidate will be responsible for creation and performing updates to ArcGIS Online/Portal platform applications including Story Maps, Field Maps, Experience Builder, and Survey 123.
It is preferred for the candidate to have two years or greater experience in any of the following programming languages and development tools, such as C#, ModelBuilder, GitHub, Javascript, .NET, Oracle PL/SQL, Python, SQL Server, VB, and Visual Studio. Individuals should have the ability to translate business needs into clear and concise requirements for developers and develop business and implementation plans and procedures, apply standards and specifications related to GIS data and metadata. The selected candidates may also manage junior and mid-level staff and their associated workloads.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum education requirements for each classification include a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS Technology, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field with minimum of 9 credit hours in courses specifically related to GIS operation/management plus:
