PDC DISASTER SERVICES ANALYST – ID# 222371.

Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Disaster Center (PDC), located on Maui and Oahu. Telework (from employee’s residence city and state) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.  

MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY:  Up to $5,115/Mon.

DUTIES:  Supports the development and distribution of PDC analytical and situational awareness products, reports, and templates. Monitors and assesses hazards and events, including the integration of hazards, situational awareness products and information into PDC’s all-hazard warning and decision support platform, DisasterAWARE. Supports Disaster Services Team (DST) exercises and response activities, including providing surge capacity for major disaster events. Supports the Disaster Services Team in the development and implementation of DisasterAWARE testing and training to include supporting training courses for PDC clients. Supports client specific projects related to comprehensive disaster management and risk and vulnerability assessments and disaster response. 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/TRAINING

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Disaster Management, Public Administration, Geography, or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Up to one (0-1) year of disaster management experience.

KNOWLEDGE

Strong, working understanding of mapping and publishing tools. Understanding of Disaster Management principles. Understanding of Government Agencies and Departments, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), and other disaster management stakeholders.

ABILITIES & SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal skills.  Skilled in Geographic Information System (GIS)/mapping and publishing software. Microsoft Office skills. Ability to oversee and manage multiple tasks and priorities.  Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable.

POLICY/REGULATORY REQUIREMENT

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong understanding and experience with applying PDC’s DisasterAWARE platform in support of disaster management activities. Experience working with national and international disaster management organizations. Experience with providing support to training, as well as disaster response and exercises. Experience with ESRI ArcGIS. Experience with Microsoft Publisher.
