Lead Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst

GIS Analyst

This position works within the Department of Information Technology. Responsibilities include mentoring and coaching GIS project staff, creating GIS project methodologies and quality assurance / quality control procedures, creating, designing and administering geodatabases and providing supportive mapping data and analysis.

The typical starting salary range is between $62,649.60 - $75,171.20 annually depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience as well as budgetary considerations.

Examples of Duties

  • Lead data conversion, design, development, training, and quality assurance for GIS software systems applications.
  • Oversee activities involving GIS projects and develop and implement methodologies for creation and use of geospatial data.
  • Design GIS project methodology to include the primary staff assistance in identifying needs and acquiring GIS products and services.
  • Advise County Departments in the development of their GIS plans, goals, and objectives and coordinate GIS activities between the County and other external agencies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and developments in the GIS field.
  • Determine budgetary requirements for GIS systems and provides long-range planning related to GIS.
  • Coordinate database and host server activities with the enterprise server support team.
  • Schedule and coordinate software patches, updates, and upgrades.
  • Perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, Urban Planning or related area and seven years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
