Information Systems Specialist 5 (Area GIS Coordinator)
There is currently one permanent, full-time position open with the Oregon Department of Forestry. This position's location can be at one of the following District/Unit offices: Forest Grove, Tillamook or Astoria. Location negotiated at time of hiring.
The primary purpose of this position is to administer and manage the Geographic Information System (GIS) architecture and data for the Astoria, Tillamook and Forest Grove Districts, NWOA Biologists and Geotechnical Specialist, Tillamook Forest Center, and South Fork Forest Camp. It requires working across three agency operational Divisions and the agency IT Program. This position requires expert knowledge of Esri ArcGIS desktop software at all license levels (Basic, Standard, and Advanced), numerous agency-specific software programs and other "off-the-shelf" software. It also requires knowledge of computer hardware and agency IT security protocols, as they relate to the function of ArcGIS software.
Four (4) years of information systems experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), specifically ArcGIS products, including viewing, editing, analyzing and managing spatial data.
An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND two (2) years of information systems experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), specifically ArcGIS products, including viewing, editing, analyzing and managing spatial data.
A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
