Responsible for using ArcMap editing and specialized United States Geological Survey ArcMap extension tools to carry out editing of topological hydrological geometric features as part of the Iowa version of the USGS National Hydrography Dataset; responsible for updating and maintaining progress tracking applications and for updating workflow diagrams and documents; regularly corresponds, collaborates, and communicates with primary Iowa USGS Water Steward at the Iowa Department of Natural Resources; maintains metadata and documentation; performs topology checks and other data quality checks to identify and correct errors or omissions in data; maintains up to date knowledge about USGS updates to extention tools and practices; and performs ongoing review of project progress with map linked to tracking data.
This is a part-time, benefits-eligible position, estimated to work approximately 36 hours per week. This position is eligible for overtime.
Bachelor’s degree in Geography or GIS required.
At least one year of experience working with ArcGIS Desktop software and USGS specific toolsets for editing and quality control of National Hydrography Dataset features in ESR File Geodatabase formats; experience with USGS National Hydrography Dataset data models and implementations in ESRI File Geodatabases including geometric and attribute rules (topology, domains, subytpes) as well as relationship classes; and proficiency in using Google cloud-based software like Gmail, Google Sheets, Chat, etc. required.
Master’s degree in Geography preferred.
