This position performs a wide variety of data processing and analytical duties including GIS digitization, geoprocessing, and data maintenance on multiple platforms. Key job functions will include collection, input, modification and analysis of data representing multiple asset types, GIS helpdesk support, map preparation for export or print, and staff coordination and assistance with GIS related items.
The key to success in this role is the ability to offer solutions to city departments through strategic thought and problem-solving skills. The position will perform the full range of duties as assigned, work independently, apply analytical knowledge and exercise judgement and initiative. Positions at this level will be provided instruction and assistance, but will be expected to document processes when new situations arise. Work in this role is normally reviewed on project completions and for overall results.
Your Day-to-Day
The GIS Division prides itself on its excellent customer service to our internal users and external customers. This includes validating authoritative data sources, clarity in communication, attentiveness to the GIS Support helpdesk, and eagerness to collaborate and innovate as-needed. Your daily tasks will require excellent time management skills to balance the ever changing workload ranging from long-term project enhancement tasks to immediate map requests. You will interface mainly with ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Field Maps, and Office365 products (OneNote, OneDrive, and Excel).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A Bachelor's degree is desirable, but is not required if candidate possess a satisfactory combination of work experience and/or professional certificates that demonstrate ability to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities could include:
Education/Training
A certificate in GIS or equivalent in educational credits required. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, information systems, data processing, or a related field, highly desirable.
Experience
A minimum of 1 year of responsible professional level GIS experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:
Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record. ESRI certifications are highly desirable.
