Job Statement: This is an entry level GIS/Mapping position responsible for facility data review, input, integrity, and the posting processes of specific digital Utility Maps and data. Assists in the maintenance of the connectivity of our GIS’s network model. Prepares, converts and posts selected Gas, Water, and Electric facility designs received from Engineering Aides or as-builts received from Operations. Our goal is to supply accurate information to our internal users in a reasonable amount of time after construction is complete or system changes are made.

Job Requirements:
Education/Training/Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent. AS degree in Information or Technology Management, Computer Sciences, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering Technology, Design Drafting Technology, Engineering Graphics, GIS or related field required. Or Formal trade school training in CAD is required.
OR
In lieu of education: 2 years of experience in GIS or Engineering Drawing, design drafting or CAD/Windows Applications or 2 years in operations as a Utility Worker or above required.
Experience/Skills: Ability to demonstrate a considerable knowledge of GIS, understand data collection, data maintenance methods preferred. Experience in engineering drawing, GIS, design drafting or CAD/Windows Applications/experience preferred with degree. Prior utility experience, mapping and plan design, as well as knowledge of survey principles and methods desired and GTECH or Microstation experience preferred. Mapping experience preferred.
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions: Occasional light field work, primarily sedentary office environment with repetitive work at computer keyboard.
Equipment: PCs, Plotters, Printers, and Servers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Operating Systems, Bentley, Hexagon and ESRI.
Other: Work in a multi-discipline, team environment, striving to facilitate a cooperative, collaborative and proactive work environment within this and other Utility departments. The ability to understand, translate and communicate technical terminology in terms understandable to non-technical employees both orally and in writing is essential.
