Coordinate and maintain GIS activity in the Water and Light department.
Essential Job Functions
•Ensure accuracy and usability of all GIS data.
•Create maps from engineering drawings to represent field conditions.
•Provide information, assistance, and training on GIS mapping services to GIS Technicians
•Ensure adherence to current standards in the GIS field; research new developments and technology.
•Prepare reports, recommendations, and presentations related to GIS system.
Ancillary Job Functions
•Assist with computer operations; troubleshoot hardware issues and assist with software updates.
•Answer inquiries from other employees or the general public.
•Research historical data to solve issues in electrical or water data model.
•Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
•Associate degree or equivalent experience.
•Minimum of three years of experience using GIS.
•Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position
•Knowledge of basic engineering principles, practices, and methods.
•Knowledge of GIS and related technologies.
•Knowledge of typical applications and terminology in the fields of engineering, GIS, architecture, data processing, and public administration.
•Ability to manage/coordinate multiple projects.
•Knowledge and skill in the use of a personal computer related to AutoCAD, ESRI, and Microsoft Office software platforms.
•Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water and electric distributions systems.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job
•May be exposed to inclement outdoor weather, extreme temperatures, or risk of electrical shock.
•May be required to work in hazardous traffic conditions.
