Under the supervision of a Team Leader, the GIS Specialist supports effective and efficient program and project delivery by performing basic to complex analysis of specified data, authorizing and maintaining datasets, upholding best practices, utilizing appropriate methods in conversion and validation of data received in various formats, producing maps, illustration boards, exhibits, etc., on demand in a timely manner meeting departmental standards.
GIS Specialist duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
High School diploma and
A minimum of nine (9) years GIS Analyst experience utilizing the more advanced principles and practices of GIS is required.
Associates degree in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Information Systems or a field requiring GIS coursework and
A minimum of seven (7) years GIS Analyst experience utilizing the more advanced principles and practices of GIS is required.
A BA/BS degree or higher in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Information Systems or a field requiring GIS coursework and
A minimum of five (5) years GIS Analyst experience utilizing the more advanced principles and practices of GIS is required.
Communicate effectively, either verbally or in writing, with technical and nontechnical professionals.
Work efficiently on a team understanding the collective goal with a willingness to perform tasks below experience level and learn or attempt new skills if necessary.
Work independently to meet the needs of special projects.
