SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining and updating the Utilities GIS system. Reports to the Utilities Project Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Note: The listed duties are illustrative only and are not intended to describe each and every function which may be performed in the job class.   • Maintains and updates Utilities information in the GIS system through the use of heads up digitizing from record drawing information, data collection with field GPS units and information provided electronically in CAD/CAM format including the accurate data input of attribute information for all assets.
  • Prepares specialized maps in paper format along with presentation quality graphics for electronic presentations.
  • Performs work related to this job description as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (Note: The knowledge, skills, and abilities identified in this class specification represent those needed to perform the duties of this class.   • Knowledge of and proficiency in computers with emphasis on microcomputers, minicomputers, graphic workstations and CAD/CAM technology such as digitizers and plotters.
  • Knowledge of CAD technology, GIS PC and ESRI ARCGIS for Desktop and Auto CAD including recommended documentation procedures.
  • Knowledge of mobile device technology such as tablets, laptops, etc.
  • Knowledge of ORACLE databases is desirable, including recommended documentation procedures.
  • Knowledge of map datum and geographic projection systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, maintain good working relationships, exercise initiative and sound judgment and take the lead in coordinatingand organizing end user activities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, geography, computer science or related field and two years experience in GIS applications and ARCGIS systems.
  • Experience may substitute for a degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Possession of a valid Florida Class "E" driver's license.
