Performs duties as a Geographic Information Systems Specialist in support of the Sustainable Range Program (RTLP and ITAM). Creates, analyzes, manages and distributes authoritative standardized spatial information products and services for the execution and support of military training. Obtains, digitizes and maintains current spatial data layers and relational databases, compliant with current standards. Provides direct customer service support to training units by providing standard and custom cartographic products.
Minimum Qualifications Experience working with GIS and specifically Earth Systems Resource International (ESRI) software products Arc 9.X or later, Spatial Analyst, including Military Analyst extensions; Experience with GPS devices and Pathfinder software; Ability to create/edit Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE) compliant data and metadata; Knowledge of different military branches and basic missions; Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography or related field preferred; Minimum two years experience as a GIS technician/specialist utilizing ESRI software highly desired; Experience working on GIS projects for the military preferred; Certificates of ESRI ArcGIS I & II, certificates in SDSFIE; -Level II Range Safety and ArcGIS for Range Personnel may be considered as substitutes for other educational requirements.
