About the Position
This position is with the Mississippi Forestry Commission in the GIS department. This is a first-level position responsible for capturing, storing, manipulating, documenting, distributing, and displaying geographically referenced information from a variety of sources. Uses utility and data conversion software and manipulates and analyzes data which may include quality assurance, creation, and maintenance of spatial data topology. Compiles, edits, and maintains data in geographic and operational databases. Responds to technical questions from end users and resolves basic problems.
Examples of work include, but are not limited to the following: Federal grant administration, monitoring and reporting. Serving as the liaison between the Mississippi Forestry Commission and other state and/or Federal agencies on a state, regional and national level as directed by GIS Supervisor. Assist with FAA registrations and inventory of drone fleet Assist with site selection and application development for Tree Farm audit Support FIA program locally and nationally Assist with Invasive Species Program data collection Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
