A personal note about who we are and how you will fit in:
Geographic Technologies Group is a small, successful and growing consulting company consisting of exceptionally skilled people who really love GIS technology. We have been around for 21 years and continue to evolve with the industry. We are geospatial system integrators who help our clients to connect their IT systems through GIS and GIS Web Viewers. Our goal is always to provide a good return on investment to our clients and help them accomplish real business goals. Our clients love our commitment to their success, our willingness to flex and bend to meet their unique business needs.
As consultants, we are subject to a very dynamic workload. Some weeks, especially when project deadlines approach, you may work long hours. Other weeks, you may find yourself looking for ways to be useful while your projects are held up for various reasons. This is the nature of consulting and it is not for everyone. However, if you are someone who enjoys building clever and useful tools, solving problems and doing real things with GIS, it can be very rewarding.
Most days you will probably work from our office and remotely connect to client offices to work on their projects. Periodically you will need to travel to a client location and meet with clients to learn their needs. Occasionally you may work for several days at a client facility. Travel requirements and durations will vary by project and the role you are playing within it.
Given our size, most staff perform a wide range of duties. While this position will emphasize GIS implementation, it is likely to entail most aspects of GIS technology and IT consulting. In a typical week, you are likely to be troubleshooting technical issues, discussing needs and designing solutions with clients, performing all levels of GIS work, creating documentation, building virtual servers and more.
