The Georgia Department of Defense and Georgia Army National Guard's Construction and Facilities Management Office is looking for a detail oriented and highly technically proficient Advanced Level GIS Specialist to be a part of our Real Property, Planning and Programming Team. Our headquarters facilities are conveniently located in Marietta, Georgia, at the Clay National Guard Center, which is an adjoining property with Dobbins ARB. Our agency provides a unique professional experience with a blend of state government functions and federal government interaction in a military environment where both domestic and foreign missions are a regular occurrence.

Our Advanced Level GIS Specialist will be responsible for gathering, organizing, and maintaining GIS data in the appropriate formats that support the CFMO GIS program. Additional responsibilities include generating and maintaining easy-to-use, useful and appealing GIS maps and web applications using ESRI and front end web development tools, including but not limited to HTML5, Javascript, and CSS. Other expected products from the GIS Specialist are user-friendly databases, reports and maps to be used in facility management, utilities evaluations, military construction, environmental baseline studies, site surveys, and restoration efforts.

Physical requirements include driving to GAARNG properties; walking fence lines while documenting field data; sitting during computer work and standing during office machine operation during an 8 hour workday. No heavy lifting expected.

Minimum Training & Experience: Completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in geography, cartography, geology or a closely related field and 1 year of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to GIS qualified applicants who have two or more years of significant GIS web development and professional experience in a tax assessors or similar office.

The selected applicant must meet the following standards:

1. Pass a pre-employment drug test.

2. Possess a valid drivers' license.

3. Eligible to work in the U.S.

4. Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
