Manages the Geographic Information System (GIS) section of the SCARNG Environmental Department. Provides GIS expertise and authoritative standardized spatial information, products, and services for the executing of the Conservation and Compliance GIS program. Supervises the activities of GIS staff. Oversees the development and growth of the Conservation and Compliance Environmental portion of the SCARNG Enterprise GIS. Develops budgets and identifies sources of additional funding. Other projects may be applicable, as well as those identified by the SCARNG GIS Program Manager.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A master's degree in geography, engineering or related field; or a bachelor's degree in geography, engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in the development and maintenance of a geographic information system; or an associate's degree and 5 years of relevant, expert-level work experience in GIS.
Knowledge of GIS software standards and capabilities, database development, spatial modeling and spatial statistics. Ability to analyze and accommodate GIS user requirements. Ability to develop and manage GIS projects effectively. Ability to plan, oversee and evaluate the activities of others. Experience with AutoCAD and networking preferred. Knowledge of aerial photo interpretation and digitization preferred. Advanced level knowledge of ESRI GIS software suite. Knowledge of GIS programming including Python and ESRI's Web AppBuilder. Experience using and troubleshooting Trimble hardware and software strongly preferred. In depth knowledge of SDSFIE data standards (both 2.6 and 3.1.)
