GIS Data Manager

Discovery Acquisition Services (DAS) is now accepting resumes for the position of Corporate GIS Data Manager for seismic acquisition and land work projects. Experience in seismic a plus, but not required. Preferred applicant will be familiar with ESRI ArcGIS 10.x. This position is based in our Katy, Texas office.  It will require travel to various project locations within the lower 48.

The GIS Data Manager is a composite of two positions; Database Manager, and GIS Analyst.  Job duties will include building and maintaining GIS databases for various clients in the Oil & Gas and Renewables industries. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, computer science, data science, or related area preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience working in GIS.
  • Experience working in a technical role within the O&G or Renewables industry preferred.

Job Duties will include:

  • acquiring available GIS base data, aerial photographs, topographic maps, etc
  • the development of digital cadastral map data in ESRI ArcGIS format, including; surface/mineral ownership parcel shapefile data and associated owner information, project boundary, source/receiver locations, base map feature development, and integration of survey data.
  • Development and maintenance of surface/mineral database, in a Lotus Notes environment.
  • Creation of surface/mineral permit letters, and subsequent tracking of approved/denied permits in the database, as well as on GIS maps.
  • Creation of periodic project status maps, as well as maps depicting various data throughout the phases of each project.
  • Creation and tracking of landowner payment requests, funding for payments, and digital copies of all payments.

The GIS Data Manager will be responsible for keeping track of all digital and hard copy data throughout all phases of each project, as well as the compilation of final project deliverables, to be presented to the client at the completion of each project.
