ABOUT THIS POSITION
The primary role of this position is to coordinate and manage requests for mapping services throughout the department and prepare and present recommendations on mapping solutions. Responsibilities include supporting strategic implementation of routing solutions, developing and implementing permanent continuous improvement processes, and analyzing current and future operational capacity and customer base. This position may supervise GIS Technicians, Senior GIS Technicians or other technical staff.

Currently, a vacancy exists in the Street Transportation Department. The GIS Coordinator supervises GIS Staff that create and maintain GIS feature classes with respect to Street Transportation Right-Of-Way related assets, and all other related GIS data, maps and mapping applications. Other responsibilities include: Verifying the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications. Serve as project lead for special mapping projects; meet with various GIS users and review requests; develop and tailor mapping products to meet user needs; provide project status updates as needed. Manage and supervise GIS personnel; monitor work flow, data accuracy and overall quality, analyze processes and procedures and make recommendations for changes.

This recruitment may be used by any department for any current or future vacancies over the life of the eligible list.

RECRUITMENT DATES

SALARY

$58,136 - $88,379 annually.

Candidates may be hired up to $88,379 depending upon qualifications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems, geography, planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, computer science or a related field.
  • Two years of experience working with geographic information systems.
  • One year of supervisory experience
  • An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.
