Since 1979, Far Western has worked in partnership with private industry, government agencies, tribal organizations, and non-profit groups, to achieve goals surrounding cultural resources management, environmental review, and compliance processes. Far Western has an immediate opening for a GIS specialist. Minimum responsibilities include basic cartographic production, data entry, georeferencing scanned maps and digitizing archaeological features. Advanced responsibilities for applicable candidate could also include advanced spatial analysis, database design, and web map design. Experience with ESRI ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro are required. This job requires a detail oriented person with the ability to work with a variety of people in a fast paced environment. This position is available in either our Davis or Sausalito offices.
Preferred candidates will have a GIS Certificate and strong database skills as well as knowledge and experience with Trimble GPS, Microsoft Excel, Access, as well as general principles of archaeology. This is an excellent opportunity with a respected cultural resource consulting firm. The successful candidate will have the opportunity for a variety of tasks on jobs throughout California, Nevada, and the surrounding areas.
